the Focus Program
The Program and Process

Schedule

The Focus Program offers clusters every fall and spring semester.   The themes vary year to year but the schedule remains consistent.

Focus Program student will take a schedule that includes two seminars, one interdisciplinary discussion course (IDC) and two additional courses chosen by the student. This is the same for both fall and spring experiences.  Fall enrollment also includes the residence in a living/learning community on East Campus.  Spring enrollment does not impact or change a student’s housing assignment.

Your Focus Program courses will fulfill multiple graduation requirements as specified in Trinity College’s T-Reqs and the Pratt School of Engineering’s general degree requirements.

The fall semester clusters are open to first-year students only.  The spring semester clusters are open to first-year and sophomore students.

Students register independently for the additional courses on ACES and will be automatically enrolled in the Focus courses before book-bags open.  Suggested elective courses are listed with our registration information.  Fall Focus students register during the summer; and, spring Focus students register during the usual fall registration windows.

Students must receive permission from the Focus Program to change Focus courses during these registration windows.  Students are strongly discouraged from withdrawing from the Program after registration has been completed.
